Do what???

Here we go again! Many of us have heard of the sign placed in the Washington State Capital, right next to the Nativity, mocking religion (all religion, not just Christianity) Then we hear those who celebrate “Festivus” want a sign, and followers of the Spaghetti Monster want a sign.

Now the Westboro Baptist Church want a sign that reads, “You better watch out, get ready to cry, You’d better go hide, I’m telling you why. Santa Clause will take you to hell. He is your favorite idol, you worship at his feet, but when you stand before your God, He won’t help you take the heat. So get this fact straight: you’re feeling God’s hate, Santa’s to blame for the economy’s fate, Santa Claus will take you to hell.”

I am usually pretty tolerant, Christians do not own December, and so when our Jewish friends, Muslim friends, even our Pagan friends who celebrate the solstice want a sign, or a symbol – that is just fine.

Let me get it out there. The sign from the atheist organization is not about promoting or celebrating atheism, it’s about cutting down the faith of others. The Spaghetti monster is ALSO about cutting down creationism (ie religion) and the Westboro Baptist Church is about hate.. period.

Come on! Freedom of speech is one thing, but promoting anger and hate is clearly a catalyst to violence. When does it end? It’s time our elected leaders stand up instead of wimping out on the threat of a lawsuit.

I am tired of these groups being able to hide behind the Constitution. Our forefathers, those who wrote for and died for this document did NOT do it to allow this kind of fanatical hatred and antagonism.
